ABOUT ME
Welcome to yummy & kind! I'm Cass, and I’m so happy you’ve joined me - I hope you're hungry! Here you’ll find yummy and crave worthy recipes we love that are kind to you, your body, and our planet. Many of my recipes are grain free and *sugar free* - my fiancé, Michael, follows a no grain, no sugar diet, while I have a serious sugar cookie and tortilla chip addiction, so what I cook for us needs to satisfy us both, and, of course, be yummy. You’ll find grain and cane sugar in my recipes occasionally. I try to minimize processed food purchases and buy sustainable, organic and/or local produce, meat, and dairy as often as possible. I believe in being kind to myself, so while I love to cook, that means recognizing that sometimes I need a break and I don’t always have time to cook every night without creating unnecessary stress for myself. So, as my content grows, you’ll also find some big batch recipes, crafted weekly meal plans, and easy weeknight meals utilizing portions of previous cooks or some of our favorite short-cut substitutes and store-bought products, while staying true to a mostly grain free, refined sugar free, fresh, and casual style of eating. You won’t find calorie or fat counts, my style of cooking and eating is focused more on the quality of ingredients, portion control, and moderation.
I’m a home cook, with a full-time job as a practicing attorney, so in staying kind to myself, I started this blog as a creative outlet and aim to share a new recipe each week. For me, cooking is as much a stress reliever as it is a way to show my love for those dearest to me. Chopping some veggies and hearing them sizzle in a hot pan is about as destructive and productive as you can be at the same time, and, with a glass of wine, it can be a therapeutic wind-down after a long day. I cook for my family and friends often, I love to find new ways to cook the foods and flavors they love. A little more about me: Michael and I recently settled back in my hometown, and I love trashy TV, reading, yoga, my long-haired dachshund, farmers markets, the holy trinity of peppers (you’ll find jalapeños, poblanos, and hatch green chiles throughout my recipes), and a glazed donut with my green juice.
While I occasionally name products and brands I use, all product recommendations reflect my own personal preference, taste, and usage and are not remunerated. If you love a recipe, it’d be really kind of you to share it and this site with a friend or family member.

*Sugar free* - Many of my *sugar free* recipes are free of added sugars, while others lean on natural sugars, such as raw honey, pure maple syrup, and unrefined coconut sugar, rather than refined sugars.
